Early Career And Promise

Federico Chiesa: From Rising Star to Injury-Plagued Juventus Winger

Early Career and Promise

Federico Chiesa was born on October 25, 1997, in Genoa, Italy. His father, Enrico, was also a professional footballer, and Chiesa grew up with a passion for the sport. He joined Fiorentina's youth academy at the age of 10 and quickly rose through the ranks. In 2016, he made his debut for Fiorentina's first team and quickly became a key player for the Italian club.

Breakthrough Season and International Recognition

In the 2018-19 season, Chiesa had a breakout campaign with Fiorentina, scoring 11 goals and providing 7 assists in all competitions. His impressive performances earned him a call-up to the Italian national team, where he made his debut in October 2018. In the 2019-20 season, he continued to impress for Fiorentina, helping the club to reach the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia.

Move to Juventus and Injury Woes

In October 2020, Chiesa joined Juventus on a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy. He was seen as a potential replacement for the departed Paulo Dybala and was expected to play a key role for the Italian giants. However, his time at Juventus has been plagued by injuries. Chiesa suffered a serious knee injury in January 2022 that ruled him out for the remainder of the season. He returned to action in the 2022-23 season, but was again sidelined with a muscle injury in September 2022.

Italy's Euro 2020 Hero

Despite his injury struggles at Juventus, Chiesa played a pivotal role for Italy at the Euro 2020 tournament. He scored two goals and provided two assists, including the winning goal in the semi-final against Spain, and was named to the team of the tournament.

Current Situation and Future Prospects

Chiesa is currently recovering from his muscle injury and is expected to return to action in early 2023. It remains to be seen whether he can rediscover his best form for Juventus and help the club achieve its goals. Chiesa is still only 26 years old and has time to fulfill his potential. If he can stay healthy and injury-free, he has the talent to become one of the best wingers in the world.
